Alvis Saladin Armoured Car
The real Saladin used the same chassis as the Saracen armoured personnel carrier, the basis for the Dinky APC. So I did the same. For the hull and side decks I started with the body of the Dinky APC (well, two of them actually) and grafted the parts together. Then I remodelled the rear of the APC as the front end of the Saladin (the two vehicles drive at opposite ends), and finally added the detail; the boxes, vision slits etc. The turret was built completely from scratch.
Moulds were made of the two major parts, plus two smaller pieces which fit onto either end of the modified chassis. Then it was just a matter of casting, fettling painting and assembling.

A long held dream realised.... a Dinky Saladin to stand alongside the Saracen APC and the remodelled Stalwart
