AEC Dorchester Armoured Command Vehicle
This vehicle was the forerunner to the ACV depicted by Dinky 677. Probably one of the ugliest of the lot. In my mind it comes under the heading of "Not to be repeated"! It was a difficult build, but worked out well in the end with even the baseplate fitting snugly.
There were no additional castings, just a severe case of "Cut and Shut". The front end was slotted and bent with the axle mountings moved rearwards. A section of the body was removed and the rear wheel arches remodelled in plasticard. The roof sections are made up of two scrap roof parts from Dinky Armoured Personnel Carriers. The photos may give an idea of the work involved, though you might spot some unnecessary cuts that had to be filled in. If you close one eye and squint with the other, it may just resemble a Dorchester.
